Ariana Grande-Butera (/,a:ri'a:n@ 'gra'ndeI/ AR-eeAH-n@ GRAHN-day, [note 1] born on June 26, 1993) is an American performer, songwriter and actress. Her distinctive use of the whistle register as well as her four-octave vocal range is well-liked by critics and media. Grande has won numerous awards throughout her career, including two Grammy Awards, one Brit Award and one Bambi Award, two Billboard Music Awards Three American Music Awards, nine MTV Video Music Awards, and thirty Guinness World Records.

Grande's vocals and the whistle sound on the album were instantly and compared to Mariah Carey.


In her second and third studio albums, My Everything (2014), and Dangerous Woman (2016), she explored pop and R&B. My Everything experimented with EDM and became a huge hit due to its singles "Problem", "Break Free" and "Bang Bang", while Dangerous Woman became her first of four consecutive top-five albums in the UK. Her personal struggles have influenced her trap-infused fourth and fifth studio albums, Sweetener (2018) and Thank U, Next (2019) Both of them had commercial and critical success. Sweetener received the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album. Thank U Next set records for the most streamed week for pop albums and was nominated as Album of the Year. The songs "Thank U, Next", "7 Rings", and "Break Up with Your Girlfriend I'm Bored" made Grande the first solo artist to hold the top three spots on the Hot 100 simultaneously and the first woman to make it to the top at the top of the UK Singles Chart. Grande's collaborations for 2020 with Justin Bieber ("Stuck with U") and Lady Gaga's "Rain on Me", both won her the Grammy Award as Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Grande extended her trap music genre with her sixth studio album, Positions (2020), that album as well as the title track debut at number one in the UK and US. In 2021, she teamed up with The Weeknd on the remix of "Save Your Tears", earning her sixth US number-one hit single.
