Robyn R. Fenty NH[2] (/ri'aen@(/ri'aen@ (listen) REE-AN -@;[3][4][n 1] born on February 20, 1988) is a Barbadian singer, actress and businesswoman. Rihanna was born in Saint Michael and grew up in Bridgetown, Barbados became an audition for Evan Rogers, an American record producer. He invited her to the United States to record demo tapes. Following her joining Def Jam in 2005, she gained not long after the release of her first two studio albums, Music of the Sun (2005) and A Girl Like Me (2006), both of which were influenced by Caribbean music, and both reached the top ten on the US Billboard 200 chart. Rihanna's third album, Good Girl Gone Bad (2007) included elements of dance-pop and confirmed her position as a sex icon in the world of music. The single that topped the charts "Umbrella" brought Rihanna her first Grammy Award and catapulted her into international fame. The next three studio albums, Rated R (2010), Loud (2010) and Talk That Talk (2011), continued her blend of R&B and pop. Unapologetic (2012) was her first Billboard 200 top-ten album. A number of chart-topping singles were released from the albums including "Rude Boy", ("Only Girl in the world")", and "What's My Name?" ", "S&M", "We found love", "Where Have You Been" and "Diamonds". The album she released on her eighth, Anti (2016), featured a brand new control of her creativity following her departure from Def Jam. The album ranked second in the US and also featured "Work", her chart-topping single. Rihanna has collaborated with a variety of artists throughout her music career. Rihanna is the second most-sold female musician and has more than 250 million records sold globally. She has been a number-one and 31 top ten singles in the US, and a top ten single in the UK with 30 entries. She has been honored with nine Grammy Awards, thirteen American Music Awards (including Icon Award) 12, 12 Billboard Music Awards and six Guinness World Records. She was also awarded the NAACP's President's Award. Time named her one the 100 most influential individuals in the world in 2012 and 2018. Forbes classified her as one of the top 10 most-paid celebrities in 2012/2014. Forbes ranked her in the top ten highest-paid celebrities in 2012 and in 2014.
